Demand-driven campaign for the mayoral elections

The National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Institute of Informatics and Development (IID) have begun the Policy Breakfast series that will provide a unique insight into emerging issues where participants will have an opportunity to better understand challenges to policy implementation.

After 12 years without elected representations, the Election Commission Bangladesh (ECB) has recently announced preparations for Dhaka North and South City Corporations Elections which are expected to occur by mid-2015. In this context, the first IID Policy Breakfast was held on ‘Delhi Elections: Lessons for Dhaka City Corporations’.

The participants discussed the surprising election campaign of the Aam Aadmi Party during the Delhi election. The presumptive mayoral candidates from major political parties attended the event. They stressed on citizen’s demand-driven campaign for the upcoming Dhaka mayoral elections.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Director, Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), New Delhi takes part in the Panel Discussion through video conference.
